When the new mother went to the bathroom because of stomach ache, she ended up giving delivery.

A woman who had no knowledge she was pregnant gave birth in the middle of a KLM Royal Dutch flight from Guyaquil, Ecuador, to Spain.

Tamara, the new mother, was taken off guard on a KLM flight last week when she went to the washroom due to stomach problems and ended up giving delivery.

Fortunately for her, some medical personnel were onboard the trip and assisted with the surprise delivery on Wednesday, December 7.

Tamara and her newborn baby were brought to a hospital for medical assistance when the plane arrived in Amsterdam for a layover.

According to a hospital spokesperson:

A few hours before landing in the Netherlands, her stomach hurt and she decided to go to the toilet. To her great surprise, after two contractions, she suddenly had a baby in her hands.

Two doctors and a nurse from Austria were passengers on the plane and were able to assist with the unexpected delivery, according to an airline spokesperson, who added that KLM is grateful to the medical practitioners for their assistance.

The woman and her infant, whom she named Maximiliano after one of the compassionate passengers who stayed with her and assisted with the delivery, are said to be doing well.

Tamara and baby Maximiliano were rushed by ambulance to Spaarne Gasthuis Haarlem Zuid hospital when the airplane landed at Schiphol Airport on Thursday, December 8.
